Lake Skadar is located in the Zetsko-skadarska valley 7 km from the sea and is the largest lake in the entire Balkan district. The cultural and historical significance of the islands on Lake Skadar are considerable. The largest town on the lake is Virpazar. The vicinity of Podgorica as the capital and its airport is 10 minutes drive from Virpazar and Bar Sea Port only 20 minutes drive. National Park since 1983. Ramsar site since December 25, 1995.
